A dream is a wish your heart makes

Hello everyone,

so if you hadn't figured it out already by the title of my entire blog, I am a dreamer. And I'm proud to tell that I'm also a big believer. So I thought it would be appropriate to talk about dreams. How I get my motivation, how I work for them, etc. And I hope it may give a little spark to a dreamer out there.

My dream

I want to become a lead-singer in band. (though I'm 99.9% sure my parents don't like this one). The thought that one day I will spend time sitting on a tourbus together with some of my best friends to sing for people and make them have the night of a life-time, to be able to touch some in the heart, to make a change... it gets me. From touring the US to playing shows in Australia; it could all be possible. And that's what I'm working for. I am willing to give everything for that dream.

My motivation

I'd be lying if I said that my biggest motivation isn't Jared Leto. He supports my dreams more than I do and that's why I love him.

This might be my favorite quote ever. PERIOD. I love these words so much and they give me so much strength. I also tend to pick a lot inspiration out of songs and I'll give you 3 of my favorite songs. (surprise, surprise: 2 of them are by Thirty Seconds To Mars, because a lot of their songs evolve around dreams)

Paramore - Last Hope

Thirty Seconds To Mars - Do Or Die
(this is probably my favorite song ever)

Thirty Seconds To Mars - Closer To The Edge

My work + plan

So I think that you should think for yourself: "what work has to be done for this dream?". Tend to also think about little things that will pay off in the end; start with those. For me that is doing some voice exercices. I tend to do them whenever I feel like it and 8/10 times I will do them if I tend to sing. 5-10 minutes and I'm good to go! Very short period for a warm-up but that's enough for now.

I also started to experiment more with songs right now, giving it a little twist and make it fitting for my voice. I also started to sing louder and with more confidence, which is a HUGE improvement for my voice.

Then completley differently, I practice microphone skills: I use an empty bottle of deodorant (I have no proper microphone) and I lip-sync to songs and tend to think of how much energy you should put into them so you can go through an entire concert.

I also try to think of when in songs I could add little things or how you could let the crowd sing something, jump, etc. Just everything involving the crowd. I think of lights, I think of video in the background, I think of stage-form,.. I got it all covered!

So what is my plan? Just stay here in Belgium? Fuck no. Los Angeles baby! Los Angeles has been a city I dreamt about ever since I was a little girl, and I feel like that's the place that I belong. I might study something there that has to do with film-making in the mean time and find like a little job to make some money. I'm saving for LA as soon as I bought a camera.

So that was basically it. If I could give you one thing to remember from this post it is that you need to follow your dreams and work really hard because they can come true if you have enough faith and work hard. You can do what you dream. Dreams aren't impossible.

To end this post I got a little message from James Franco for you:

Much love,

First post

Welcome, welcome, welcome!
This is my sort of 2.0 blog as I just didn't feel like it with some aspects of the previous one. You can still click the link to see some of the previous posts on there (I think there are 40 on there) so that's here.

I made this new one which looks quite similar to the other one. I just loved the lay-out and I spent months looking for that back then. The difference is that this blog is by a completely new me. I grew up in so many ways differents than that blog.

Here is to a fresh start and the hope that you will follow this journey with me.

Much love,
Xo
